Bicycle Assembly & Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Policy

Effective Date: June 25, 2026

At Velozzo, Inc., your safety is our highest priority. Many bicycles and electric bicycles are shipped partially assembled to reduce shipping costs and protect the product during transit.

Before riding your new bicycle, please carefully review the following information.

1. Bicycle Assembly

Most bicycles sold by Velozzo arrive approximately 85%–95% assembled, depending on the manufacturer and model.

Final assembly is the responsibility of the customer and may include, but is not limited to:

  • Installing the front wheel (if applicable)
  • Installing and tightening the handlebars
  • Installing the pedals
  • Installing the seat and seatpost
  • Adjusting the brakes
  • Adjusting the front and rear derailleurs
  • Checking wheel alignment
  • Tightening all bolts and fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications
  • Inflating tires to the recommended pressure

Assembly requirements vary by manufacturer and bicycle model.

2. Professional Assembly Recommended

For your safety, Velozzo strongly recommends that every bicycle and electric bicycle be professionally assembled and inspected by a qualified bicycle mechanic before its first ride.

Professional assembly helps ensure:

  • Safe operation
  • Proper brake performance
  • Accurate gear shifting
  • Correct torque on all fasteners
  • Proper wheel installation
  • Proper tire inflation
  • Overall rider safety

3. Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)

Before riding your bicycle for the first time, perform or have performed a complete Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).

The inspection should include, at a minimum:

  • Brake adjustment and function
  • Gear shifting adjustment
  • Wheel installation and security
  • Handlebar alignment
  • Stem tightening
  • Seatpost security
  • Pedal installation
  • Tire pressure
  • Wheel spoke tension (when applicable)
  • Chain lubrication
  • Verification that all nuts, bolts, and quick-release mechanisms are properly tightened

Never ride a bicycle that has not been properly inspected.

4. Electric Bicycles

For electric bicycles, customers should also verify:

  • Battery is fully secured.
  • Battery is properly charged before first use.
  • Electrical connectors are fully connected.
  • Display functions correctly.
  • Motor assistance operates normally.
  • All lighting systems function properly (if equipped).

Always read the manufacturer's owner's manual before operating an electric bicycle.

5. Rider Safety

Before every ride, we recommend performing a quick safety inspection, including:

  • Checking tire pressure.
  • Testing front and rear brakes.
  • Confirming handlebars are secure.
  • Ensuring wheels are properly fastened.
  • Checking the drivetrain for smooth operation.
  • Verifying that the battery is securely mounted (for electric bicycles).

If anything appears loose, damaged, or unusual, do not ride the bicycle until the issue has been corrected.

6. Owner Responsibilities

By purchasing and operating a bicycle from Velozzo, the customer acknowledges responsibility for:

  • Proper final assembly.
  • Performing routine maintenance.
  • Following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
  • Inspecting the bicycle before each ride.
  • Operating the bicycle safely and responsibly.
  • Complying with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

7. Warranty Considerations

Improper assembly, incorrect installation, unauthorized modifications, lack of maintenance, or misuse may void certain manufacturer warranties.

Professional assembly may be required by some manufacturers to preserve warranty coverage.

Please refer to your product's warranty documentation for specific requirements.

8. Protective Equipment

For your safety, Velozzo strongly recommends wearing:

  • A properly fitted, CPSC-certified bicycle helmet.
  • Appropriate eye protection.
  • High-visibility clothing when riding in low-light conditions.
  • Front and rear lights when riding at night or in reduced visibility.

Always obey local traffic laws and ride responsibly.

9. Limitation of Responsibility

Velozzo provides bicycles that require final assembly by the customer or a qualified bicycle technician.

Velozzo is not responsible for injuries, accidents, product damage, or property damage resulting from:

  • Improper assembly.
  • Failure to perform a Pre-Delivery Inspection.
  • Improper maintenance.
  • Unauthorized modifications.
  • Failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Unsafe operation of the bicycle.

Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have under applicable law or any valid manufacturer warranty.
